New Production Facilities available + 2010 in review

Well it has been a while since I posted, but just wanted to let you know that I’m still here, and have been working on some interesting projects this past year. We’ve also got a whole lot of new recording gear at our production facilities including a Yamaha PM1800 recording console which has really nice sounding preamps. We’re pretty much all geared up for producing any style of music, so hit us up if you need anything recorded or produced.

I’ve been a part of a team that has done some SEO and Commercial auditoriun seating design
work on a website for an internet based commercial furniture company – Alloyfold. We think it is looking pretty good!

I’ve also set up another website for audio production and recording enthusiasts with helpful articles on creating, recording and promoting music. Make sure you head over and check that out too.

My sister Catherine is a talented Christchurch Jazz musician and I recently gave her a hand purchasing her domain – www.catherinewellsmusic.com, setting up hosting, and configuring her email. You can listen to some of her recordings on her site, and contact her for bookings if you have functions coming up.

I’ve also recorded a 3 song demo and set up a facebook profile for technical metal band – Terebinth. Check them out at www.facebook.com/terebinthmusic Terebinth play technical metal with odd time signatures, fast moving rhythm patterns and groove-laden break downs.

Jordan Mclean, the guitarist for Terebinth, also has a guitar
instructional DVD out, learn more about his project at
www.shredguitarmethod.com. I’ve had the privilege of working with Jordan and helping him get his domains and hosting set up, as well as assisting him with recording and production with some of his work.

Hope you’ve enjoyed a brief overview of what we’ve been up to in 2010. We’re looking forward to another good year in 2011!

How to write great marketing copy

2

Well written marketing material is key to success in any business, online or otherwise. You’ll need to get a thorough grasp of these concepts so you can communicate effectively with your customers, and influence them to purchase from you!  Lets explore some of the key strategies to use when writing marketing material and sales copy for your website.

Plan and set some goals

What do you want to achieve from this particular piece of marketing? It should have a purpose, or it isn’t worth doing! Do you want to get visitors to your site to perform some action such as signing up to a newsletter, enquiring about a product, or purchasing if you have an ecommerce store? Perhaps you just want to inform them about your brand, or educate them about your company or product  – these are also valid goals.

Consider your target audience

Spend some time thinking about your audience. Who is likely to be reading this material, and what are the the things that are important to them? If it’s a younger audience, for example, you might use a more informal style of writing. If you’re selling baby products, your target audience might be young mothers – think about what their needs are, and how to connect best with them.

Features and Benefits

This is extremely important! You need to clearly explain what the benefits are of the product or service you are promoting. Always mention the benefits first – draw your audience in to read further by enticing them with a juicy benefit! Then explain the relevant features, to support your claim. Don’t get greatly involved in the details here – technical specs can go somewhere else.

Here’s an example; “Never lose your wallet again. The wicked widget wallet chain clips onto your belt, and keeps your wallet connected to you wherever you go!”

Notice that the benefit – never losing your wallet, is mentioned first, with a brief description of the features following to back up the claim.

Hopefully these tips are insightful and helpful to you as you work on your online marketing campaign! If you need help – we’re available to write great marketing pieces for you.
